Here’s a list of programs I would recommend to anyone starting out with designing or programming, or just looking to find something cool to work with. Please note that I did not create these programs or applications and that they are copyrighted to the website or organization they belong to.

Notepad++

A great program for those who want to keep their scripts organized and legible. This program contains the very popular string highlighter and other tools to aid in making your script or website function properly and look great at the same time.

Wine

A Linux program that emulates Windows to install “Windows” only programs. Wine installs programs to the familiar Program Files folder and uses the registry key tree to configure applications. To learn more about Wine, including an installation and usage guide, view this tutorial.
